Dr. Alex Vujnovic started Power Within Chiropractic to help women embrace the power in their rite of passage journey through pregnancy and birth. She advocates for the naturalization of the process, as the medicalization of labor is very different from the natural process.
One of her reasons to create Power Within Chiropractic is that the current maternity system is broken and full of fear-based care, traumatic birth experiences, and poor maternal and fetal outcomes. At Power Within Chiropractic, she hopes to show women that they have a choice to choose a natural birth, and by doing so, get in touch with their most authentic self and experience the profound transformation natural birth can bring forth.
Dr. Alex graduated summa cum laude from Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, SC. She is Webster trained and active with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) organization. She is in the final stages of completing ICPA’s 200-hour curriculum—which provides doctors with techniques and protocols of care for children and pregnant women. Dr.Alex is also trained in several techniques, including Thompson, TRT, Toggle Recoil, Full-Spine Chiropractic Adjustment, Activator Protocol, and Applied Kinesiology.
Dr. Alex advocates chiropractic treatments, removal of interference to the nervous system, for prenatal care through educational resources to help communities choose healthier and balanced options that promote the expression of normal physiological function.
The Webster Technique
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment designed to reduce the adverse effects of sacral/pelvic subluxation on the birthing process and developing fetus.
Sacral subluxation via uterine nerve interference, pelvic misalignment, and the tightening of specific pelvic muscles and ligaments may contribute to difficult labor for the mother. William’s Obstetrics lists inadequate uterine function, pelvic contraction, and baby mal-presentation as the reasons for difficult labor. The correction of sacral subluxation may have a positive effect on the causes of difficult labor.
What to Expect on Your First Visit
Logon to EHR File Portal
You’ll be asked to fill out the practice member health forms so we can get to know you better. The information in the forms will be used to create your customized Care Plan. Don’t forget to read and sign the Terms of Acceptance!
Dr. Alex will speak to you about the issues you face, review your health history, and will work with you to understand your version of ideal living.
Nerve & Muscle Scan
A thermal scan is used to check your organs and glands for any irritation or inflammation.
sEMG scans measure neuromuscular stress tension and symmetry to gauge how efficiently your body utilizes its energy and if it functions in a balanced and organized manner.
Heart Rate Variability Scans check the variation of heartbeat intervals. They are a strong diagnostic biomarker for general health. A high HRV suggests relaxed, low-stress physiology, while a low HRV indicates a need for rest and recovery.
You will receive a Comprehensive Chiropractic Exam, which Dr. Alex will use to understand the root of your health issues and how to move ahead with your customized Care Plan.
Your Second Visit
